Advertising Sales Manager, AMC Outdoors Magazine

AMC Outdoors is the award-winning membership magazine of the Appalachian Mountain Club. This full-color magazine is published ten times per year with 80-96 pages per issue, and includes features and regular columns on outdoor recreation and conservation issues in the Northeastern U.S. The Advertising Sales Manager oversees account development and management, media kit development, sales forecasting, invoicing, and classified advertising. Our advertising account base draws heavily from the outdoor and tourism industries. This full-time, exempt position offers base salary plus commission. This position is based in AMC’s Boston office, and reports to the Publisher.

Responsibilities

  • Display Advertising Account development and management, including maintaining contact database, invoicing, order tracking
  • Classified Advertising order management Budgeting and forecasting of display and classified advertising revenues
  • Development of annual rate card and media kit
  • Development and execution of advertising marketing plan, including direct mail, email, and trade shows
  • Creation of value-added opportunities for advertisers, in conjunction with other departments within AMC
  • Order management and art materials tracking
  • Other duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or related field.
  • 1-2 years sales or telemarketing experience, ideally in advertising sales.  Experience in outdoor industry or hospitality industry a plus.
  • Self-starting team player who loves media sales and marketing and pays attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiating skills Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ACT, Excel, Word. Experience with Microsoft Access a plus.
  • Interest in outdoor recreation, education, and conservation mission of the AMC
  • Physical abilities: Work is performed in a standard office setting. Ability to operate desktop computers, phones, and other office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
