Looking for an internship experience that you can be passionate about – and learn valuable skills in consumer PR? An internship with the Appalachian Mountain Club offers a unique opportunity to work with America's oldest conservation and recreation organization.
The public relations intern will work directly with the AMC’s public relations manager to provide administrative and project support for the conservation, education, and recreation initiatives central to the AMC's mission. Specifically, this includes building awareness of AMC Destinations, membership benefits, outdoor workshops and outings, conservation work, and outdoor education programs.
Responsibilities:
- Researching media outlets and contacts.
- Researching seasonal trends.
- Identifying relevant editorial and speaking opportunities.
- Responding to media requests for AMC collateral.
- Maintaining coverage database and clip files.
- Assembling press materials and assisting with publicity mailings.
- Assisting with updates to the online newsroom and securing reprint rights.
- Submitting calendar listings.
- Drafting media alerts for upcoming events.
- Coordinating with stakeholders across the organization to gather input for pitches.
- Assisting with internal chapter communications.
- Brainstorming new and creative ways to publicize the AMC and reach target audiences.
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Dependable and responsible nature.
- Interest in outdoor recreation opportunities and conservation.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently.
