Every year the AMC hires highly qualified staff for a season at a time to operate the club's facilities, maintain trails, deliver programs, and provide information to our visitors. The AMC operates many facilities in partnership with state and federal agencies including the United States Forest Service, New Hampshire State Parks, and the National Park Service.
We are looking for applicants who demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and motivation. They must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, as well as cooperatively with others. Candidates should demonstrate the interest and ability to contribute to AMC's public service efforts and promote the importance of membership in the AMC to all of our guests at roadside sites and in the backcountry.
Positions listed here are seasonal, although we also fill year-round positions as they become available. (See also our listing of full-time staff positions.) You may apply online for seasonal positions or print out an application and fax it back to us.
Wages
Wages vary according to position and individual qualifications. Average weekly pay is $250 to $340 after deductions for room and board (provided for many positions) but before taxes.
Review Process
When you apply online, you will receive an automatic confirmation on email that your application has entered our database. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply early according to the schedule below since there is great interest for many of the positions we offer. (See also "competition.")
Please be sure the information you provide is complete, accurate, and to your liking before you submit the application. To preserve the integrity of your original application, we cannot add or modify information once we receive it. If you later wish to make changes, please wait to speak to a hiring manager who may call you for more information. Please do not send emails.
When your application is received — whether online or through snail mail — it will be sorted in order of your job preferences. As the season of your interest approaches, qualified applicants will be selected for interviews. We only contact applicants we believe we'd like to inteview. Typically we interview two or three applicants for each available position.
Due to a high number of seasonal applications, we regret that we cannot notify applicants when positions have been filled. For those not offered interviews or positions, your application is kept on file for one year. Please reapply if you wish to be considered for future employment. In this way, you have the opportunity to update your qualifications.

Competition
When choosing your preferences for seasonal employment with the AMC, bear in mind that summer backcountry and education positions are the most competitive. We suggest choosing one roadside position as a preference to make your application more competitive. The opportunity to start at a roadside facility often gives employees an important understanding of the organization, which they can later bring to a position in the backcountry. You may list as many as three job category preferences when you apply online.
