The placement, during the holiday vacation week, was especially effective at reaching a key audience c active, New England-based adults and families vacationing in the Mount Washington Valley. The story highlighted the latest aspects of the construction of the Highland Center.


Robbins cinquefoil recovery gets more ink

Northern Woodlands Magazine — Winter 2002 Edition
Removal of Robbins cinquefoil from the federal Endangered Species List, due to the cooperative efforts of the AMC, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, and New England Wildflower Society, was featured in the Winter 2002 edition of Northern Woodlands Magazine. The de-listing of the plant was also highlighted as an environmental success story on CBS Sunday Morning.


AMC position on ATV use highlighted

The Providence Phoenix ran a lengthy feature on ATV use in forests and parks, highlighting the importance of human-powered recreation on public land. Heather Clish, AMC Director of Trails and Riverways Stewardship, and Amy McNamara, AMC Land Advocate, both contributed to the story.

The opening of Lonesome Lake Hut for its first-ever winter season was featured in multiple media outlets around the region. All of the stories announced that Lonesome Lake Hut is open and available for self-service use this winter. Several newspapers and radio stations throughout the region ran the AP story. Couloir Magazine also noted the Lonesome winter opening is a special report on backcountry huts.


AMC provides avalanche information

The AMC provided information on avalanche awareness and avoidance, following an avalanche in Tuckerman Ravine that claimed two lives. AMC experts also discussed the usefulness of courses in avalanche awareness and winter mountaineering, including those available through the AMC's Outdoor Adventures and Workshops program.
