AMC breaks ground on new center for lodging and learning

A front-page article on the groundbreaking for the AMC's new Highland Center at Crawford Notch observed, "The site of a 19th century grand hotel in the White Mountains, once destined to be an amusement park, is about to become a center for lodging and environmental learning." The article detailed how the Highland Center fits into the AMC's long-term goals, known as Vision 2010, which include reaching 50,000 young people through hands-on environmental education programs, and managing 2,000 miles of trails.
