AMC experts shared their knowledge of outdoor skills for the filming of three "Wild Ways" segments for a new series titled, "Wildlife Journal." The series is co-produced by NHPTV and the N.H. Fish and Game Department. Topics included hiking preparation and safety, snowshoeing, and Leave No Trace techniques.

The AMC was one of five environmental organizations to release "Our Forests and Parks in Crisis," a report outlining the deteriorating condition of Massachusetts's state parks and forests, and calling on Governor-elect Mitt Romney to make funding and management of state parks and forests a priority. Coverage of the effort went far and wide across Massachusetts and other Northeast states.


AMC outdoor recipes in the spotlight

The Boston Chapter's Fourth Annual Fall Gourmet Backpack trip was the focus of an extensive feature story. The story included some great outdoor recipes and highlighted many Boston chapter members.


Cardigan Lodge gets some ink

The AMC's Cardigan Lodge was highlighted as a great place to stop if you are cycling in New Hampshire. The Globe article, by Clare Innes, highlighted the meals and lodging available at Cardigan and described biking in the New Hampshire region as "truly pie-in-the-sky."


Northeastern Wilds, a new AMC book, praised

AMC's new book, Northeastern Wilds, received high acclaim in a review of the book that included a biographical sketch of author Steve Gorman in Marty Basch's syndicated outdoors column that appears weekly in several New Hampshire newspapers. The column also highlighted AMC's book Discover Southern New Hampshire by Jerry and Marcy Monkman.


AMC lodges billed as affordable, family friendly destinations

A feature article titled, "A Family Affair: Camps and hostels provide fun, affordable family getaways" by Jody Feinberg, highlights affordable family getaways. The article highlighted and depicted with multiple color pictures what one can expect when visiting the AMC's Pinkham Notch Visitor Center and Cardigan Lodge. The article also included a mention of AMC's Highland Center, currently under construction in Crawford Notch.


AMC provides safety info for hiking Mount Washington

The Fine Living Network this summer filmed AMC's volunteer trail crew hard at work on Mount Washington for a "Back to Basics" segment airing on cable TV this fall.
