Future of the White Mountain National Forest at stake
In the final days of the Forest plan comment period, The Valley News, Nashua Telegraph, and Foster’s Daily Democrat ran an Op Ed by AMC Deputy Director Walter Graff urging people to speak up about the future of the Forest. This extensive piece highlighted the AMC’s history in the Whites, as well as its under consideration by the Forest Service. An edited version appeared in the New Hampshire Business Review on December 24.

An article by reporter Diana Bowley recounted a meeting of representatives of the state of Maine, municipalities, local businesses, and the AMC who met to discuss policies surrounding the future of the Maine Woods. The discussion was sponsored by the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council and focused on a variety of issues pertaining to the North Woods. Greenville Town Manager John Simko introduced a proposal for policies to guide the future of the Maine Woods. AMC Executive Director Andy Falender was quoted several times in the article expressing the AMC's support for Simko's proposed policies.
