Most weekends throughout the winter (and summer) our guide staff or volunteers are available to lead walks at both 9AM and 1PM. These walks which are generally no more than 1-2 miles and take approximately 1-2 hours, head out to various locations throughout the Notch. On select days throughout the season our staff lead Notch Hikes at 9:30AM. The hikes are closer to 2-5 miles round trip and often take half a day to complete… Don’t forget to pack lots of snacks or a lunch!
Don’t have winter traction? Don’t worry! We can outfit you with either snowshoes or microspikes for your guided walk or hike. For both the walks and hikes it is recommended that participants arrive 15 minutes in advance to go over paperwork and gear requirements. All minors must be be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
In addition to the walks, our guide staff set up interactive information sessions in the foyer of the Visitor Center each day. Topics for these talks range from “How To Pack Your Pack” and “Winter Feet” talks to “Skins And Skulls” and “Birds of the White Mountains” (as seen in the photograph above) presentations.
