As a regional organization, AMC has a long history of bringing together like-minded organizations to secure important legislation or funding to address important conservation issues. AMC’s experience in recreation management, trails stewardship, and mountain ecosystems -- along with its membership of more than 100,000 outdoor enthusiasts, advocates, and supporters -- often complements the expertise of other conservation partners.
Examples of our history in building coalitions includes:
- Northern Forest Alliance: AMC is a founding member of this coalition, which works to raise awareness of the threats to the four-state Northern Forest region of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.
- Highlands Coalition: this project of the AMC works to coordinate the efforts of national, regional and local conservation organizations and land trusts toward the protection of the federally recognized Highlands region in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
