Land Protection

The AMC advocates for land conservation funding on behalf of critical projects in the Northern Forest and Highlands regions. Working with coalition partners and local communities, we build grassroots support for priority conservation projects.

FY 2010 Funding Update: Congress is presently deciding on funding for next year's budget. Land conservation funding got a big boost when the administration released its preliminary budget in February for FY10 and included $420 million for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and Forest Legacy Programs with “annual increases to reach full funding of $900 million by 2014.” This is a big increase as the LWCF received only $152 million in FY09 funding
