Cleaner Cars

There are currently environmentally friendly choices for those buying a new vehicle.  Most car dealer in the Northeast provide some of the cleanest cars in the nation due to the states adoption of the California emission standards which are more stringent than the federal rules and specifically address carbon dioxide emissions, the most prolific greenhouse gas.

In the Northeast Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island have these standards in place.

How do you know if the car you're shopping for meets these standards?

On the manufacturer’s label (driver’s side): Look for the label "California", "Massachusetts", or "Northeast Emissions Package". (Labels that say "50 State", "National", or "Tier 1 Emissions Package" are NOT cleaner vehicles.)
