This movie shows the natural cycle of ozone (O₃) formation. Background tropospheric levels of ozone are formed, in the presence of sunlight and heat, when natural sources of volatile organic compound (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) react. Other natural sources of ozone include stratospheric ozone incursions that reach the troposphere and lightening strikes.
