Welcome to the AMC's annual trail sign auction! Every year the AMC's White Mountain Trail Crew replaces weathered or out-of-date trail signs with new ones. The old signs are collector's items, having guided thousands of visitors for many years along celebrated paths throughout the Whites. All proceeds from the auction will support AMC's trail efforts in the Northeast.
This year's auction will take place on eBay beginning Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. and will end on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12:00 p.m.
2009 Signs:
Boott Spur - The natural wood of this sign has been worn smooth by steady, record-breaking winds and weather seen by few human eyes.
Hancock Loop - Through the years, this sign has guided the few who venture to this special, challenging trail.
Meader Ridge - This sign hails from the mountains of Evans Notch - a hidden gem of New Hampshire known for its ruggedness equal to many sections of the Presidentials.
Willey Range - This sign has guided thousands along the Willey Range Trail, which was constructed almost 100 years ago to connect Mount Field with the other peaks in the range.
Pine Link - This sign stood at the junction of Pine Link and Watson Path (on the side of Mount Madison), only 0.5 miles from the famed Madison Spring Hut, built in 1888.
Signs will be on display at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center Trading Post for the duration of the auction.
