Trail Auction: Carlo ColThis trail sign for the Carlo Col trail has spent over 20 years in the hidden gem of the North Country, the Mahoosucs. Off of the Success Pond road, the Carlo Col Trail leads to the Carlo Col Shelter, which is maintained by the AMC and is the first shelter a northbound Appalachian Trail hiker encounters in Maine. Aside from the famously rugged terrain, the Mahoosucs are rich with wildlife, as one can tell by the gnawing of a moose’s taste-test in the upper right corner of the sign. The style of this sign is older and no longer used, though the traditional white with green lettering is consistent with the newer style.
