*Will I leave a Legacy? Yes!
Join Team Willy today!
The campaign is chaired by its namesake, Willy Ashbrook. Willy worked at Madison Spring Hut from 1962-1964 and Mizpah Hut in 1965 and 1967. In those years, he carried loads of more than 150 pounds up to the huts. Willy now lives in Keller, Texas, but spends as much time as he can in the White Mountains and skiing in the Maine Woods.
You can leave a legacy to AMC!
It’s Easy To Do

Name AMC a beneficiary of your IRA or pension plan; life insurance policy; stocks and bonds; or bank accounts. You simply need to contact the institution that administers your account for a beneficiary designation form.
There Is No Minimum Contribution.
Gifts at all levels are welcomed and appreciated. Your gift will have a big impact on AMC programs.
Help us reach our goal of 100 new Summit Society members in 2011! Be one of the next 50 members to leave a legacy to AMC or to let us know that you have already done so and receive a free Team Willy t-shirt!
All AMC programs are made possible by the generosity and support of people like you. Planned gifts to the AMC allow us to continue our mission to promote the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Appalachian region into the future and may also help you with your financial needs.
Planned Gifts
Those who support the AMC through a planned gift are welcomed into the
Summit Society, in recognition and honor of their loyalty and dedication to the AMC. There are two ways to make a planned gift to the AMC.
Let Us Know: If you have already included AMC in your estate plans, please let us know so that we can express our gratitude for your generosity and foresight and include you in the Summit Society. You can call or email Katrin Aback at 617.391.6638 or

Important IRA Update! The IRA Charitable Rollover has been Extended through 2011
The tax bill passed by Congress in mid-December reinstated a provision that allows donors ages 70 ½ or older to make a gift directly from their traditional IRA to a qualified non-profit such as the Appalachian Mountain Club. This is great news for people who have to take mandatory minimum withdrawals, but do not need the income, since it allows them to take a withdrawal without having to pay income tax. The provision will also remain in effect through December 2011.
Need some more time to consider a gift? Congress recognized that their foot-dragging put may donors in a difficult end-of-year position as far as making charitable gifts. The legislation includes a special rule allowing any IRA gifts made in the month of January to count for 2010.
