Include the AMC in your will through a bequest

Spaulding Lake, Great Gulf Wilderness, NH. Photo: Robert J. KozlowMany AMC supporters make charitable gifts by naming the AMC as a beneficiary in their wills. The federal government encourages these gifts or bequests by allowing an unlimited estate tax charitable deduction.

To make a bequest to the AMC, the following language may be helpful to your lawyer or estate planner:

"I give ____________ ($ amount, percentage of estate, the remainder of my estate) to the Appalachian Mountain Club, 5 Joy Street, Boston, MA 02108, for (its unrestricted use, or a specific purpose, e.g. land stewardship, education, facilities, trails)."

Please note: This is general information and is not presented as specific legal or tax advice. Donors should consult with their financial advisors for counsel.
