A Message from Don Dolben, Campaign Chair

Don Dolben

The Committee for the Campaign for the Maine Woods is thrilled to announce that with your participation we have successfully met The Kresge Foundation $1.5 million challenge grant!

Generous and broad based support from more than 3,000 AMC members and private foundations resulted in this success.  Progress was made one dollar, one acre, and one mile of trail at a time. From gifts of $25 from some of our youngest members to seven figure gifts from some of the largest foundations in the United States, each gift made a difference and each gift brought us that much closer to protecting the 100-Mile Wilderness.

Hikers, skiers, paddlers, and nature enthusiasts who love their experiences in special outdoor places joined together to help protect these places, forever.  Moose will continue to roam freely; the lynx will happily elude the photographer’s lens, and the land will be open for all to enjoy, forever. Another generation will share experiences outdoors and they will carry the message of enjoying and protecting the natural world into the future.

Thanks to you, our momentum in Maine continues. We are on our way to our goal of a connected corridor of protected land, trails, and camps; of earning FSC certification for our forestry operations; and of reaching kids in Piscataquis county with an environmental message and an outdoor experience. Together, we have raised more than $36 million towards our goal of $45 million.

From all of us at AMC, thank you!
