Play a part in the largest conservation project in AMC's history by supporting the Campaign for the Maine Woods.
- Make a Gift of Stock: A gift of stock to AMC can make a difference in the Campaign for the Maine Woods and may minimize your tax burden at the same time. The financial advantages of making a gift of appreciated securities may include avoiding having to pay a capital gains tax and receiving a charitable tax deduction.
- Introduce Family, Friends, and Fellow Members to the Maine Woods Initiative by Hosting a Blueberry Pancake Breakfast: Invite your chapter, committee, or outdoor friends and neighbors and tell them about the project and the campaign. A breakfast tool kit is available with everything you will need, and a campaign volunteer will attend to speak about the project.
- Become a Trail Builder: Help AMC make the Maine Woods accessible to outdoorspeople by making a commitment of $10,000 to support trails. It costs an average of $10,000 to build a new mile of trail. Donors who give gifts of $10,000 will be recognized on a Trail Builder plaque in the project area and will receive a framed trail photo with a personal note of thanks.
- Encourage your chapter leadership and fellow members to show solidarity for the Maine Woods Campaign: The Worcester Chapter is supporting the Campaign with a grant of $10,000 to build a shelter in the Maine Woods. They are hoping to inspire other chapters to consider ways that they can participate in the Campaign. Talk to the leadership of your chapter and with fellow members to make a difference.
- Protect an Acre: Each acre of land in the Maine Woods costs roughly $1,000, factoring in its purchase price, and the cost to protect it, create trails on it, and maintain access. Help AMC realize its goal of 1,000 donors at $1,000.
- Invest in the Future: You can make a difference in the Campaign for the Maine Woods through your estate or with a gift that will provide income for you or your designee. Giving in this way often allows you to make a larger gift than you thought possible and often reduces income and estate taxes. There are many options:
- Set up a Charitable Gift Annuity that will pay you income for life
- Name AMC the beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan
- Include AMC in your will with a bequest
We would be happy to talk with you about these options. To discuss your legacy of giving, contact Katrin Aback in the AMC Development Office at 617.523.0655 ext. 338 or by email at kaback@outdoors.org.
