A Mountain Classroom helps students in grades 5-12 gain a deeper understanding of the natural world. Each year we work with about 4,000 students from 75 schools across the Northeast.
Students study geology on mountainsides overlooking glacial cirques, forest ecology while hiking among the trees, watersheds along the banks of mountain streams, and winter ecology while trekking on snowshoes. We work closely with teachers to integrate environmental education into the classroom curriculum.
In our one to five day overnight programs, students explore the natural world with the AMC. Led by caring AMC instructors, young people will strengthen their character and connect with nature while increasing the skills and knowledge they need to understand our world’s complex environmental challenges.
