AMC Outdoor Adventures in the White Mountains are based in several locations in New Hampshire and Maine with overnight accommodations ranging from full-service lodging to camping and backpacking.

  • Pinkham Notch, N.H. — Many of our White Mountains workshops are run from the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center and Joe Dodge Lodge, a full-service lodge with shared bunkrooms or private rooms, shared bathrooms with showers, and a dining room with sit-down meals.

  • Along the Appalachian Trail in N.H. — Many of our summer programs, including our Hut-to-Hut Adventures, include overnights at one or more of our eight high mountain huts. Located a day's hike apart along the Appalachian Trail, our huts offer bunkroom lodging; hearty family-style meals (full-service, in season); cold running water (no showers); and toilets. For workshops during self-service season, huts offer lodging only, and participants carry and prepare their own food.

  • In the backcountry of N.H. — Our backcountry workshops are based at a variety of sites, including AMC and Forest Service managed campsites (some with shelters) and pristine, undesignated sites with no amenities. (Learn more about AMC backcountry campsites.)

Other summer programs are based out of volunteer-managed camps throughout New England.

Please refer to the workshop description for more information about the location of a specific workshop. If you have further questions about the overnight accommodations, please call the reservation office at 603-466-2727.

The AMC works in partnership with the White Mountain National Forest to provide the public with high-quality outdoor learning opportunities and information. The lodge and Visitor Center at Pinkham Notch and the AMC huts are located in the National Forest and are operated by the AMC under a special-use permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
