Hiking, paddling, and skiing plus "off the grid" relaxation.
Recharge in the serenity and natural beauty of the Maine Woods. Hear leaves underfoot as you step out on trails leaving from your cabin door, or dip a paddle or cast a fly in the sparkling waters of Second Roach Pond. In winter, "off the grid" takes on new meaning, with wildlife tracks and our 130-mile trail network beckoning each morning.
Medawisla (the Abenaki word for loon) is the newest destination in our Maine Wilderness Lodges network, and an ideal spot for exploring the famed 100-Mile Wilderness. Located at the confluence of Second Roach Pond and the Roach River, seven miles from Kokadjo and northeast of Greenville, Medawisla offers opportunities for hiking, paddling, fly fishing, canoe camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, steps away from your private cabin.
Medawisla is currently under construction and will open summer of 2017. Reservations will open early 2017. We invite you to visit our other Maine Wilderness Lodges, Little Lyford and Gorman Chairback this fall and early winter,
July - November
Medawisla Lodge & Cabins offers a spectacular location "off the grid" by the shore of Second Roach Pond, on 70,000 acres of forestland permanently conserved by AMC as part of its Maine Woods Initiative. The lodge offers drive in access whenever we are open, or you can hike, bike, or ski in on our lodge to lodge trail network. AMC has completely rebuilt a sporting camp first opened at this location in 1953.
