Maine Woods Campsites & Shelters

AMC maintains five campsites and one shelter on its Maine Woods conservation property, for use by the general public. Rates are set and collected with the KI-Jo Mary Multiple Use Forest. Fees are paid at KIJM checkpoints from May through October.

Horseshoe Pond Campsites

Location: Hike-in site on the sunny, north-east shore of Horseshoe Pond and hike in from the Upper Valley Rd.

Type of Site: Tentsite

Accommodations: picnic table, fire ring, outhouse

Water Source: Pond

Pearl Ponds Campsites

Location: 4 Private, drive-in tentsites, with short walk to 5 ponds. Drive-in access from the Upper Valley Rd.

Accommodations: tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, outhouse

Baker Pond Campsite

LocationHike-in tentsite, located on Baker Pond, with beautiful views of Elephant Mountain.

Accommodations: 1 tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, canoe, outhouse

Coyote Rocks Campsites

Location: Paddle-in tentsite on the north shore of Long Pond.

Type of Site: Tentsite

Accommodations: Paddle-in site; 2 tent pads, picnic table, fire ring, outhouse

Long Pond Campsites

Location: Western end of Long Pond at end of Long Pond Road; also accessible via Trout Brook Trail.

Type of Site: Tentsite

Accommodations: 3 drive-in tentsites; picnic table, fire ring, outhouse; hand-carry boat launch with boat dolly

Phoenix Shelter at Trout Pond

Location: Trout Brook Trail, 0.9 miles from Greenville Rd. Park at KIJM Hedgehog checkpoint.

Type of Site: Shelter

Accommodations: Adirondack Shelter (sleeps 8), fire ring, outhouse

Water Source: Pond

Fees & Reservations

Fees for all campsites and shelters are $12/person/night ($10 for Maine residents), children under 15 free. Campsite users are also responsible for gate fees of $10/person/day ($6 for Maine residents). For a full fee schedule, visit the KIJM website.

Call KI-Jo Mary Multiple Use Forest for reservations: 207-965-8135. Advance reservations are not required, but recommended on Friday and Saturday nights. Fee is collected during times KIJM checkpoints are open, May opening through October.

shelter: site with a three-sided lean-to and no designated tenting area.
tentsite: site with just tent platforms or pads in designated area and no shelter/lean-to.
campsite: site with both shelter/lean-to and tent platforms or pads in designated area. 

Regardless of the source, remember to boil, filter, or chemically purify water before use.

All of the campsites listed above have pond water as a water source and are not equipped with bear boxes.
