Nestled at the base of Mount Cardigan and surrounded by 6,000 acres of forest, Cardigan is a year-round retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Here, you can step out onto 50 miles of hiking and skiing trails, enjoy the backcountry experience without the long hike, or bring a group to stay at our group campsite, just a 10 minute walk from the lodge. Later, spend the evening relaxing by the campfire with your friends and family.

Campsites open year-round with fewer sites available in winter.

Basics

  • One group campsite ideal for larger groups.
  • Walk-in access only with wheelbarrows available to shuttle gear. Carry in/carry out.
  • Camp stove recommended for cooking. Meals also available at lodge during full-service season at the posted rates, with advance reservations.
  • Scheduled programs for all guests. Learn more>>
  • Naturalist programs, chapter activities, and workshops.
  • Outhouses within walking distance of campsites. Showers are not available.
  • Potable water source available outside Cardigan Lodge.
  • Retail store at Cardigan Lodge for basic necessities, including books and maps.
  • Trail and weather information at Cardigan Lodge.
  • Informative displays and daily educational programs at Cardigan Lodge.

Reservations & Policies
 For reservations, call 603-466-2727, Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All reservations must be paid in full at the time the reservation is made. Payment can be made with a VISA, MasterCard, or American Express.

Cancellations:

  • Full refund up to 14 days prior to arrival date, less a $25 processing fee.
  • No refunds less then 14 days prior to stay.
  • Refunds may be granted in the event of emergencies and severe weather at the AMC's discretion. The Reservations Office must be notified immediately.

Policies:

  • Children's rates apply to all who are 12 and under.
  • No smoking.
  • Alcohol should be used in a manner that is safe and courteous to oneself and to other guests. Abuse will not be tolerated. The legal drinking age is 21.
  • No pets allowed.
  • Member rates are available to those who show proof of membership when checking in.
  • Rates and policies are subject to change without notice.
