Welcome to spring in the alpine zone! AMC Naturalist Nancy Ritger will lead this guided adventure in the White Mountains above treeline. We will take advantage of the Mount Washington Auto Road where we will be dropped off above treeline. This will give us plenty of time to hike through the Alpine Garden to Lakes of the Clouds Hut and the Mizpah Spring Hut. We’ll spend two days at the huts examining delicate alpine flowers, discussing alpine adaptations, and comparing alpine communities.   

This trip involves moderate hiking on steep, rocky terrain. Weather can change quickly and become cold and windy, so be sure to bring extra layers. Participants should also be in good hiking shape and have proper hiking boots.

Minimum age 18 (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
