Completed in 1930 to continue the Western Division.
Named for Colonel Charles Greenleaf who ran the Profile House in Franconia Notch and gave money to the AMC to build a shelter for hikers.
Was the first hut to use a team of burros to bring construction materials up the mountain.
Was the first hut with running water and inside toilets, symbolizing the change in the focus of the entire hut system from mere refuges to hostels.
Used a new design with the kitchen and dining room in the center and bunkrooms on either side. This became the model for Galehead and Zealand Falls, which were built later. Greenleaf was also the first to abandon the stone and masonry construction of the earlier huts.
Had solar panels installed later to help decrease reliance on propane.
