Historic Profile: Lonesome Lake Hut
Started as fishing cabins which were built in 1876 by author W.C. Prime.
Became part of the AMC hut system in 1929 when the state of New Hampshire bought the surrounding land and invited the club to run the camp.
Was the first hut of the Western Division.
Lived up to its name—Lonesome Lake has always been the quietest of the huts (until recently when it became popular with families).
Had its women's bunkroom demolished in 1950. Tents provided a temporary substitute.
Managed by the first all-female hut crew of the system in 1979.
