Across from Saco Lake at the head of Crawford Notch stands the historic railroad station, Crawford Notch Depot. Built in 1891, this Queen Anne-style depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Open to the public, it is a major stop on the Conway Scenic Railroad's daily excursions from North Conway and houses the Macomber Family Information Center. Recently renovated, the depot offers visitors informative displays on the surrounding natural environment, and the local lodging, railroad, and grand hotel history.
