Alpine Wildflowers Welcome Weekend

Whether you're a new member or a current member, Welcome Weekends are a great introduction to all that AMC has to offer. Spend a weekend exploring the emerging wildflowers in the Alpine Zone! Participants will learn the basics of Alpine Ecology, the common species of flowering plants, survival strategies of alpine wildflowers, and how the AMC is working to protect these species. The program will include a guided hike through the flowering areas above treeline over rocky, uneven terrain where participants will be able to see wildflowers first hand.

Highland Center to Lakes of the Clouds Hut
June 22-June 24
Join AMC expert naturalist Nancy Ritger on a hut natural history adventure as we explore the adaptations of plants and animals who live in the challenging yet stunning tundra of New England. We'll spend one night at the Highland Center before hiking along the tumbling headwaters of the Ammonoosuc River to Lakes of the Clouds Hut at treeline. At Lakes of the Clouds, we'll explore the many spring wildflowers of the high ridges as we compare different alpine plant communities.
