100-Mile Wilderness Sled Dog Race
February 6
Enjoy a day of dog sled racing in Maine's 100-Mile Wilderness. Teams for the 100-mile race leave from Greenville at 9AM, and teams for the 30-mile race will leave at 11AM. AMC will organize events such as snowshoe and cross-country skiing races and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Spectators can also enjoy fee-based dog sled rides and an afternoon bonfire. The race passes through both AMC’s Little Lyford Lodge and Cabins and Medawisla Wilderness Lodge and Cabins, including a 2-hour mandatory break at Medawisla in the afternoon, giving lodge guests a prime viewing location for the race. Explore the Maine Wilderness in search of Maine’s native Moose with an expert AMC Naturalist as your guide. This all-inclusive program starts with an evening naturalist program on moose. On the second day, you’ll take a canoe trip to First and Second Roach pond in search of local moose, followed by a van ride to well-known moose watching sites in the area. On the final day, you’ll have extra time for hiking, paddling, and fishing.
