Directions to Medawisla Wilderness Camps

Medawisla is located in Maine, 25 miles northeast of Greenville. Below, you can find seasonal directions to the Camps.

Driving Directions to Greenville, ME
From points south, not including Bangor or Portland, Maine, drive North on I-95.

Travel North on I-95 to Exit 157 (old 39), the Newport exit. Take a left on Route 7 to Dexter. In Dexter, take a left on Route 23 North to Guilford. Keep a sharp eye out and check your map. These roads should be marked, but it can be confusing! At the end of Route 23 take a left on Route 15 North to Greenville. When you get to Greenville, there will be a blinking yellow light in the middle of town. Northwoods Outfitters is on the right.

From Bangor, take Route 15 North to Guilford. Turn right onto Route 15/Route 16/Elm Street. Continue to follow Route 15 to Greenville.

From Portland, take Route 295 North to I-95 and follow the above directions.

To Medawisla Via Greenville in spring, summer, or fall
North on I-95 to Exit 39 at Newport. North on Route 7 to Dexter. Route 23 to Guilford. Route 15 north to Greenville. From Greenville, follow the road on the east side of Moosehead Lake (straight through town) 20 miles to Kokadjo. From Kokadjo keep left with the Baxter State Park sign for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach our sign on the right. Turn right and drive for 5.3 miles to wooden bridge. Cross bridge and look for sign on left. Turn left at sign and follow road to the camp entrance.

Winter Directions
From Kokadjo keep left with the Baxter State Park sign for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the Medawisla sign. Turn right and proceed to our private parking lot. From there travel either by skis or snowshoe the additional 1/4 mile to camp. Shuttle service for you and/or your gear can be arranged with advance notice.
