- Hiking – enjoy walking trails near camp, or drive to trailheads of nearby Big and Little Spencer Mountains or Number Four Mountain
- Paddling – grab one of our canoes or kayaks (free for guests) and explore Second Roach Pond. Consider our "Tour of the Waters" through Second, Third, and Fourth Roach Pond. Remote campsites are available for guests who wish to combine paddling and camping.
- Skiing – ski our loop trail close to camp, or ski lodge-to-lodge for a multi-day adventure.

Birdwatchers will find many boreal birds like black-backed woodpecker and spruce grouse. Ask the lodge manager for wildlife "Hot Spots" or set out to find your own.
Public Day Use: as part of our Maine Woods Initiative, AMC is committed to providing public access. All trails and ponds within our 66,000-acre conservation and recreation property are open to the public for hiking, paddling, fishing, and hunting. Access to the area around Little Lyford and Gorman Chairback is managed through the KI-Jo Mary Multiple Use Forest, and gate fees may apply.
