About Women's Only Adventures

The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) has further expanded its women’s outdoor adventure and skills program series as these travel experiences have become increasingly popular. Interest has steadily grown over the past several years, and AMC now offers nearly double the number of women’s weekends. This summer and fall, AMC&#’;s some of the highest peaks in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

Several weekends for beginners hit the trails to practice introductory outdoor skills such as reading a map and compass and basic first aid while hiking in the White Mountains or Delaware Water Gap in New Jersey. For those with more hiking experience, another trip tackles a number of well-known, moderately challenging 4,000-foot summits in Crawford Notch, New Hampshire.

All of the weekends are based at summiting lodges, located in some of the Northeast’s most spectacular outdoor settings, and each lodge has its own unique identity. In the White Mountains, AMC. Washington, is a classic for hiking the region’s highest mountains in the Presidential Range. For a traditional Maine Woods experience, Little AMC&#’;s Lodge and Cabins features renovated nineteenth-century guest cabins, complete with wood stoves and gas lamps, nestled around a central lodge. Rustic Mohican Outdoor Center is convenient to New York City, yet a world away on a beautiful glacial lake in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap.
Rates for Mt members) to $420 ($365 members). All of the weekends include comfortable lodge accommodations and freshly prepared meals.
