12th Annual AMC Photo Contest

The results are in! After viewing hundreds of images, our photo contest judges have winnowed the field down to the very best of the best. Thank you to our judges—Karen Haas, Jerry Monkman, Paul Mozell, and Leon Tokatlian—who have shared their thoughts on what makes these particular photographs such compelling examples of outdoor photography. Thank you also to Mountain Hardwear for sponsoring this year’s contest. But our greatest appreciation is for all of you who submitted photos. Remember, even if you don’t see your picture here, it may appear in a future issue of AMC Outdoors.

"Great light. The photographer composed the photo in a way that maximizes the scene's interesting elements -- the sky and rime ice." - Jerry Monkman, AMC Photo Contest Judge

People Outdoors First Place: "Lake Lila, Adirondack Park," Michel Leroy, New York-North Jersey Chapter

"The canoe completes the composition, perfectly placed above the opening in the grasses while countering the dip in the line of distant hills." - Paul Mozell, AMC Photo Contest Judge
