The entry period for the 2011 AMC Photo Contest has officially come to a close—but voting for the People's Choice Award is taking place on Facebook now. View the photos and cast your vote on our Facebook page.

The winning photographs will appear in the March/April 2012 issue of AMC Outdoors and on outdoors.org.

Participants can submit up to three photos in each of these three categories:

Kids, Families, and Adults Outdoors
Can you capture the joy of being outdoors on camera? If so, this category is for you. Show us kids and adults, individuals and families engaged in their favorite outdoor activities.

Scenics and Nature
The natural splendor of the Northeast comes in many forms. Mountain vistas, sunsets, foliage, flowers, and wildlife are among the many popular subjects that fit into this category.

AMC in Action
What does being an AMC member mean to you? Whether it's volunteering, participating in a chapter activity, or visiting an AMC destination, we would like to see what you've been up to this year.

NEW! People's Choice Award
Designate one of your photographs for this category, and we'll include it in a special People's Choice vote on Facebook at the end of the contest. The first 200 entrants will be eligible to participate.

Prizes
New in 2011: One Grand Prize winner, selected by a panel of professional photographers, will receive free entry into a 2012 Jerry Monkman photography workshop and an accompanying stay at an AMC destination.

The first-place winner in each category, chosen by the judges, will receive one of the following prizes: a Black Diamond Infinity 50 (unisex) or Innova 50 (women's) backpack, Outdoor Research Aspire Jacket (women's) or Foray Jacket (men's), or Merrell $100 gift certificate.

The winner of the People's Choice Award, as selected by a vote on Facebook, will receive a Deuter ACT Zero 50+15 Backpack.

1. Register for the contest here.
2. Email your 300dpi entries to amcphotocontest@outdoors.org. Entries will be accepted only via email.
3. • Limit emails to 5 MB. If necessary, send your submissions in separate emails.
   • In each email, include all of the following information:
   • • Your full name, hometown and state, and AMC chapter affiliation.
     • Date and location photo was taken.
     • Title of the photo.
   • Indicate which category you would like to enter each image in.
   • Submit up to three images in each of the three contest categories.
   • Designate one of your images to be entered in the People's Choice contest.

1. Eligibility: Open to all current AMC members (except contest judges and AMC employees). First-place winners from the previous year are not eligible for the current contest.
2. By entering a photo in the contest, you grant AMC non-exclusive, royalty-free rights for unlimited reproduction in AMC print and electronic publications and promotional materials for an unlimited period of time. We will provide photo credit if we publish your image in print.
3. You may submit up to three entries in each category (nine images, total). Only one photograph per entrant can be selected per category. One of your entries may also be designated for the People's Choice contest (for which the first 200 entrants will be eligible; Grand Prize and category winners will not be eligible). AMC reserves the right to move entries from one category to another.
4. Each entry must include the photographer's full name, city/state, AMC chapter affiliation, date and location of each image, an image title, and the contest category the photo is being entered in. For images featuring AMC huts, lodges, and camps, please include the destination's name.
5. Be prepared to provide AMC with the written consent of anyone who appears in a photograph.
6. Photos must depict the Northeastern U.S., or, if from outside the region, must have been taken on an AMC excursion.
7. All works must have been created between November 16, 2010, and November 15, 2011.
8. All entries will be displayed in a Flickr photo gallery, and People's Choice entries will be displayed on Facebook.
9. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on November 15, 2011.
10. Decisions of the judges are final.
