The historic Metacomet Monadnock Mattabesett Trail System spans nearly 200 miles from the peak of Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire, through Massachusetts, all the way to Middletown, Conn. In March 2009, major portions of the trail in Massachusetts and Connecticut were designated as the New England National Scenic Trail. Just 11 trails nation-wide bear the National Scenic Trail designation. Several of the trail’s highlights are featured in this slideshow, and on the map below.
