When Kristen Laine decided to take her 12-year-old daughter climbing for the first time, she wanted an expert's guidance. Over the course of a day climbing in the White Mountains with an instructor, they practiced the basics of footwork and handholds, and then graduated to roped climbing. Laine describes what they learned in a narrated slideshow of their day.
