What you’ll see: This ride takes you over packed-dirt forest roads and abandoned double-tracks that course through Windsor State Forest. The trip begins and ends at the Steep Bank Picnic Area on the banks of the Westfield River.

Getting There

  • From Pittsfield, follow MA 9 into Dalton to its intersection with MA 8. Turn onto MA 9 east and proceed to Windsor Center and the intersection with MA 8A. Turn north onto MA 8A and follow it to its intersection with MA 116 in Savoy. Turn right onto combined Route 116/8A through Savoy village to River Road on the right. Turn right onto River Road and proceed about 3.0 miles to a parking area on the right.
