What you’ll see: In the rolling hillscape of western Massachusetts, 3,491-foot Mount Greylock stands alone, an isolated massif carved by deep valleys and awash in a sea of diversity. A loop around the peak, from base to summit, experiences the full range of the mountain.

Getting there:

  • Take Route 27 south from its junction with Route 2 in central Williamstown. In 6.1 miles, turn left on Hopper Road at a distinctive rock bridge. Remain on Hopper Road as it forks left in 1.3 miles and becomes a moderately rough dirt road.
