What you’ll see: A popular destination year round, this park has two nine-hole golf courses that are open for cross-country skiers in winter. There is also a sledding hill on the lawn of the Mills Mansion.

Getting there:
- Taking exit 19 of the NYS Thruway (I-87) at Kingston; bear right out of the toll pavilion and set your odometer to zero. Cross over the Thruway and bear right on to NY 209, headed north toward the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. At 5.5 miles, you cross the bridge (toll), and as you enter Dutchess County, NY 209 becomes NY 199. At 7.9 miles turn right at River Road. Bear right at the fork you reach after 8.6 miles. Following open vistas of the Catskills on your right, at 11.2 miles turn left onto Rhinecliff Road. At 12.4 miles, you're in the center of Rhinebeck. Set to zero here. Turn right onto NY 9G, and at 4.3 miles, turn right onto Staatsburg Road. At 5.3 miles, turn right into the Staatsburg State Historic Site.
