What you’ll see:The Seal Cove Pond area provides many opportunities to experience the biodiversity of Acadia National Park, from enchanting boreal forest to sphagnum wetlands, where rare orchids and uncommon animals such as the four-toed salamander can be seen.

  • Look for herons, loons and bald eagles at Seal Cove Pond.
  • Hike up the West Ledge Trail offers views of Blue Hill Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Getting There

  • From Maine Route 102 drive east on Seal Cove Road. After 3.5 miles, turn right on a dirt Park Service road. After 0.4 mile, turn right at Western Mountain Road. After 0.5 mile follow the sign to Seal Cove Pond.
