- Moss-covered ledges and talus slopes under a canopy of mature forest.
- Old fire rings that were built over mosses, which have never recovered.
- An area that is fragile and sensitive because of the many visitors it has endured over the years

- Picturesque rock formations.
- Fern, violet, and trout lily.
- Sections of crumbling white quartz pebbles that some early guidebook writers call the Garden Path

- to Slide Mountain Parking Area: 9.75 mi., 5 hr. 30 min.
