AMC’s members will hear a lot about the AMC150 vision in the coming years. But what is it exactly? Simply put, as Appalachian Mountain Club gets closer to its 150th birthday, in 2026, it’s working to create a world where being outdoors is an integral part of people’s lives and where natural resources are healthy, loved, and protected.

“The AMC150 Vision is a statement about the future that we as AMC are determined to create,” says Karl Fries, director of executive office and strategic initiatives and AMC150 committee member. “It was crafted by members, volunteers, community partners, and staff all working together, and it will help focus our community’s strengths on where we can have the greatest impact.”

This handy chart breaks down how the components of AMC150 are organized—Active Conservation, Outdoor Journey, and Recreational Network—and how members can contribute.
