No matter how you feel about the upcoming election, one thing is clear – Congress isn’t off the hook yet.
AMC advocates for conservation programs, legislation, and policies that matter to all of us as outdoor enthusiasts. But the current Congress has failed to act on many key conservation measures that affect the protection of our natural resources, public lands, and even the very air we breathe. Maybe you’ve even heard that this Congress has passed far fewer pieces of legislation than any previous Congress in recent history. This inaction is hurting the outdoors that we love.
If the year ends before these important bills are voted on, all progress made this Congress will be lost. 2017 will kick-off a new Congress and a clean slate, requiring that all outstanding legislation be re-introduced, only leading to further delays and setbacks.
Our outdoors can’t risk any more delays.
This is why AMC is asking Congress to “Finish the Business” and asking you to join our #FinishTheBusiness campaign. We want Congress to hear your voice and advance conservation-focused legislation and policies before the end of 2016.
I encourage you to visit AMC’s new “Finish the Business” website to learn more about the pressing conservation issues being left on the table and add your name to our Conservation Action Network for news and ways to help.
We’re sharing the hashag #FinishTheBusiness to keep our efforts both organized and focused. We encourage you to post to your social platforms using this hashtag to amplify our voice.
After the election, when Congress is back in session, you will be hearing from us with specific ways for you to speak up in support of the outdoors. We will be asking you to write to your elected officials in Washington, D.C., share updates and actions through social media, and to let us know what you hear back.
Get started today. Visit our #FinishTheBusiness webpage, sign-up for our Conservation Action Network, share your thoughts on social media with the hashtag #FinishTheBusiness, and be heard! Now is our chance to stand up for the outdoors and to tell Congress to #FinishTheBusiness.
