Hola de Costa Rica!

January 24, 2018

The 2018 Volunteer Vacation is off to a great start!  We have had a fantastic time working on the Sendero Pacifico Trail in San Luis de Monteverde, Costa Rica for the past three days.  AMC volunteers have been sweating it out and battling the bugs, all while installing wooden check steps, water bars, and even a stone retaining wall!  Today, the crew gets a well-deserved break to explore the Monte Verde Cloud Forest, and to explore the town of San Luis. When not on the trail, we enjoy the hospitality of the Salazar family’s  Café La Bella Tica, a working certified Organic coffee farm tucked away in the mountains of San Luis.

Next stop Vera Cruz! Tomorrow the crew hikes nearly 8 miles up the Sendero Pacifico Trail for a two-night stay in a remote hut. From here we’ll launch more trail projects, and connect with the community of Vera Cruz. Look for our next post when we return from Vera Cruz! Rastros Felices! (Happy Trails!)
