Write to Congress urging them to support the Great American Outdoors Act

New exciting legislation, the Great American Outdoors Act, was just introduced in the U.S. Senate. This legislation advances two critical priorities from previously introduced bills – in addition to fully and permanently funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund, it also addresses the maintenance backlog in America’s national parks and other public lands. A companion bill in the U.S. House of Representatives is expected soon. Now is our chance to finally secure full, dedicated, and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a visionary and bipartisan federal funding program that protects our nation’s most special places. From Sterling Forest in the New York Highlands, to White Cap Mountain in Maine, to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, LWCF has funded the protection of some of our most iconic landscapes and trails in the Northeast. Earlier this year, we celebrated the permanent re-authorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, but without dedicated and permanent funding Congress’ work is not complete.
