Please note that there is limited cell service and no WiFi at the lodge.
Gorman Chairback Lodge & Cabins offers a spectacular location “off the grid” by the shore of Long Pond, on 66,000 acres of forestland permanently conserved by AMC. The lodge is drive-in during summer and fall, and is accessible by ski or dogsled in winter.
Accommodations include four private, “Deluxe” cabins (one ADA accessible) with private bathrooms. Each includes a combination of queen-size bed, bunk beds, and a futon.
Eight private shoreline cabins sleep one to five people, with a combination of queen-size, full, and bunk beds. Each cabin has a woodstove and gas lamps. There is no running water in the shoreline cabins, but water jugs are provided for guest use.
A separate bunkhouse can accommodate 10 guests.
The central bathhouse, conveniently located in the main lodge, has composting toilets and hot showers as well as an available wood-heated sauna.
Linens are provided to cabin guests, including pillowcases, sheets, and towels (bunkhouse guests must provide their own linens).
Gorman Chairback offers one ADA accessible cabin with private bathroom and electrical outlets. The lodge is wheelchair accessible.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in your nightly rate. You may wish to bring your own snack items. Beer and wine are available for purchase at dinnertime.
Breakfast: Served family-style at 8:00 AM sharp
Lunch: Made-to-order trail lunches are served after breakfast (submit your order the night before)
Dinner: Served family-style at 6:00 PM sharp; includes soup, salad, entrée, and dessert

In summer, canoes and kayaks are available for guest use on Long Pond. Fly rod rentals are available at $25/person/visit. Winter guests have access to 35 miles of ski trails around the lodge, including a 2-to-11 mile “stacked” loop ski trail network around Long Pond. A gear shuttle is available for those skiing lodge-to-lodge as well as complimentary use of snowshoes.
Local hiking/snowshoe trails include Third Mountain on the Barren-Chairback Ridge and part of the Appalachian Trail, and the Henderson Brook Trail. The newly renovated “green” lodge features a cozy sitting room with wood stove, a family-style dining room, and a wood-fired sauna.
Dogs are welcome at Cabin 6 and 7 during the winter at Gorman Chairback. There is an additional fee for pets staying in your cabin. Please notify reservations if you plan to bring your dog.
Please be respectful of other guests and observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Alcoholic beverages are permitted, and should be consumed in a responsible manner. Beer and wine are available for purchase at Gorman Chairback.
Smoking or open flame are not allowed in or near any structure.

Paddle on Long Pond
Grab a canoe and head out for a sunrise or sunset paddle on the pond. Listen to the loons and maybe even spot a moose.
Enjoy the natural beauty and history of Moosehead Lake aboard a 1914 steamboat! The steamboat Katahdin offers a spacious decks with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
