On September 25th, our Chapter held a Centennial Celebration Kick-Off event filled with great activities ending with a picnic at Browning Mill Pond Picnic Area!
Our Local Hikes Committee had multiple hikes! Some hiked around Browning Mill Pond, another group hiked on Arcadia and other neighboring trails, and another group kicked off our Narragansett Chapter’s Trails Hiking Series covering Escoheag Trail! Our 20’s & 30’s Group hiked from Browning Mill Pond to Breakheart Pond and back! Our Stand-Up Paddling Group headed out on the Narrow River, while our Flatwater and Sea Kayaking Groups checked out the Upper Wood River launching from WPWA (Wood Pawcatuck Watershed Association’s headquarters). Our Trails Committee also held an informational hike on the Mt. Tom Trail focused on trail stewardship!
Back at Browning Mill Pond, participants gathered to learn more about the history of the chapter and plans for our Year Long Centennial Celebration! Our Backpacking and Northern Hikes Group also had gear on display for people to check out and ask questions! Here’s some additional events planned so far as part of our Centennial!
