Year-Round Youth Adventures
Want to take your youth outside but need some additional help? Consider joining YOP on a Youth Adventure! These programs, which last from a few hours to four days, are collaborations between YOP staff and YOP Members, and make trip planning easier while further preparing YOP Members to lead trips independently. YOP models best practices, allowing YOP Members to focus on youth development, leadership, and fun in the outdoors. Youth Adventures may also include transportation, food, or lodging support.
Youth Mountain Adventure Program - Winter: A winter adventure in the White Mountains! Three days of winter outdoor activities, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, map reading, games, leadership initiatives, and tons of fun! Each session accommodates a group of nine youth and one YOP Member. YOP provides a co-leader, food, equipment, and lodging. Preference is given to YOP Members who have completed the Winter Exploration workshop. Four sessions, January and February.
Youth Mountain Adventure Program - Summer: A fabulous outdoor leadership adventure at Mt. Cardigan! The four-day sessions accommodate nine youth and one YOP Member. Activities include hiking, canoeing, map reading, games, leadership initiatives, campfires, and tons of fun. YOP co-leader, transportation, food, equipment, and lodging included. YOP Members select youth participants and provide the excitement, commitment, and positive attitude needed to make this an experience of a lifetime. Eight sessions, July and August.
Boston Harbor Islands Campout: Two unforgettable days on one of Boston's historic Harbor Islands. A great chance for new trip leaders to get extra support on an overnight trip in a truly unique setting. YOP provides food, games, ferry transportation, education, and plenty of adventure. Four sessions, July and August.
Fall Fest: Celebrate the season and witness the spectacular foliage in Western Massachusetts while camping at AMC Noble View Outdoor Center. Enjoy hiking, team building, seasonal cuisine, and a moonlit walk through the forest. Learn how to build a campfire, navigate the woods with a compass, and cook kettle corn over a camp stove. Dinner and breakfast provided. First weekend in October.
Winter Week: Winter fun at AMC Noble View Outdoor Center! Enjoy snowshoeing while taking in the beauty of winter in Western Massachusetts. Spend the night in one of the newly renovated cabins. YOP can provide outdoor instruction for members needing extra support. Day and overnight options available. February vacation week.
Local Adventures: Work with YOP to design a custom day or overnight trip at a park near you! Choose from activities including hiking, canoeing, camping, navigation, and more. Destinations include the Blue Hills Reservation, Harold Parker State Forest, the Middlesex Fells, or your local park! May to October. Weekend, weekday, and after-school.
Winter Weekends: Enjoy two days of snowshoeing while taking in the beauty of winter in the Delaware Water Gap! Youth will learn how to layer up and enjoy the unique wonders of winter recreation. Lodging in Mohican’s rustic Trail’s End Cabin, where groups learn to cook over the wood stove. First two weekends in February.
Summer Campouts: Navigate trails, toast marshmallows, and sleep under the stars! Two days of camping, hiking, games, and a campfire will make this a trip to remember! Food, campsites, activities and most equipment included. Locations include Harriman State Park, (an hour from Manhattan), Floyd Bennett Field (NYC’s only public camp ground in Brooklyn), or our campsites in the Delaware Water Gap. Four sessions, July and August.
Fall Fest: Come celebrate autumn by camping nestled in dramatic fall foliage. Enjoy tent camping, team-building, games, and hiking to panoramic views. We’ll sip apple cider and build a campfire with s’mores and storytelling! Food, campsites, activities and most equipment included. Two weekends in October.
Local Adventures: Work with YOP to design a custom day trip at a park near you! Choose from activities including hiking, teambuilding, gear workshops, navigation, and more. Destinations include Central Park, Van Cortlandt Park, Delaware Water Gap, Palisades Interstate Park, and Harriman State Park! Year-round. All-day, after-school, and evening availability.
