Franconia Ridge Loop Trail Restoration Project

The Franconia Ridge Loop Trail is one of New England’s most popular hiking destinations. That popularity—and changing weather patterns spurred by climate change—have had an impact. The trails need significant repair to ensure a resilient future for both the trail loop and the fragile alpine ecosystem it passes through.
Enter the AMC Trail Crew.
Under the direction of the White Mountain National Forest, and in partnership with conservation corps and professional trail contractors from the region, AMC’s crew and AmeriCorps members led and performed much-needed repairs and realignment on the trail loop.
A federal budget appropriation for this project funded much of the work AMC undertook on the trails within the White Mountain National Forest. And now that the five-year project is coming to its conclusion, you can celebrate the trail’s restoration with us!
