AMC offers a variety of camping options for individuals, families, and groups.
Frontcountry campsites, a short walk from parking, are available in-season at Cardigan Lodge, Mohican Outdoor Center, and Harriman Outdoor Center. Campers can cook at their campsites, or have meals at the lodges by prior arrangement.
AMC also maintains popular backcountry campsites in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and in Maine’s Mahoosuc Mountains, most of which are located along the Appalachian Trail, under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Forest Service and the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.
AMC also offers backcountry sites in Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness region through the KI-Jo Mary Multiple Use Forest, as a service of the Maine Woods Initiative.
Backcountry campsites help conserve natural resources by concentrating already high overnight use in designated areas.
